Our Associate Director, Jack, has been with us 6 years today! Jack has absolutely smashed it rising through the ranks since he came to us all those years ago with only about 8 months recruitment experience. Since then, he’s had a whopping five promotions to get to where he is today – and we don’t know what we’d do without him. We sat down with him to look back on his years at ISL Talent.
Describe yourself in one word.
Ambitious.
What’s been your highlight of the past 6 years?
Probably the big incentives we’ve been able to hit as a team – doing really well as a business and then being rewarded for it all together. Skiing was one of the main highlights definitely, because it was the whole company, we all worked really hard to earn it and it was off the back of the pandemic as well. But all the other trips were amazing as well – Ibiza, Barcelona, Monaco.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced?
Probably the pandemic. There wasn’t anyone really hiring, everything was frozen and it was really hard to keep everyone motivated when we were all working from home and couldn’t see each other, so that was definitely the hardest point.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learnt?
Treat people how you want to be treated yourself and speak to people how you would like to be spoken to. You can’t ask someone to do anything that you wouldn’t be willing to do yourself.
What advice would you give to someone looking to start out in recruitment?
Be a sponge. Take advice wherever you can and literally ask as many questions as you can.
What motivates you?
Money. And also personal success – I’m always pushing myself to do the best job I can and progress as much as I can. It’s about being able to do the things I want to do and provide for my family.
Do you have a role model? Who is it?
Jurgen Klopp. He’s obviously an amazing people manager, and gets the results (most of the time, not really at the minute). He motivates the team so well and you can see that in terms of the relationships he’s got with his players.
What’s your funniest memory at ISL?
The ISL Talent Show was pretty hilarious. But Raniya’s rap last year at the Christmas party was so, so funny – definitely one of my funniest memories at ISL.
