Showcasing Our Team
Freya Pearce, April 28th 2022

We’re super excited to be welcoming Freya back to our team as our new Head of Engagement!

You left ISL Recruitment and have returned to ISL Talent, how does it feel to be back?

It feels great- yesterday couldn’t have been a better first day back. The first 5 minutes were weird! But after that it just felt like I never left. It’s so nice to be welcomed back with open arms.

What excites you the most about your new role?

The opportunity to talk to founders and build my credibility. Yesterday was my first day and I went to an investor pitch competition. I love learning cool stuff, I love speaking to people and interacting with companies who are still at their early-stages and talking about their goals for their business. The recruitment industry has a lot to learn and it's such a great chance to inject passion at the start of their journey. No two companies are the same and I’m excited for the opportunities this will open for me.

What do you hope to achieve in your first few months as Head of Engagement?

I’m new to this role- and it’s a new role for ISL, so it’s completely what I decide to make it. I want to be working with some really cool startups as a partner. Part of my role is to help educate others, and I want to help raise awareness around issues in recruitment like Diversity and Inclusion.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I want to be a mother in the next 5 years- and it’s often seen as taboo for a young woman to admit that she wants kids. But I want to be a mother and a career-driven individual who is making an impact through my work. I have worked at companies in the past where you almost need to choose between being a mother or advancing in your work, and one of the reasons I love ISL Talent is that I can take this job because of my plans rather than in spite of my plans.

What’s one piece of wisdom or truth that you live your life by?

Be brave enough to be the person that you want to be- and the person that you look up to. You never know who’s watching and who you’re inspiring to be their best self. And I think when it really comes down to it, I would say be kind to yourself, and speak to yourself in the same way you would speak to your best friend.
