The context
A cloud-based investigation case management and intelligence SaaS platform, Clue work with organisations in the fight against crime, corruption and safeguarding. Scaling throughout the pandemic, their exciting growth journey continues with increased demands from existing clients and new clients added to their portfolio.
In a critical growth phase linked to their £5m Series A fund raise, Clue’s priority was attracting skilled and diverse talent to successfully scale.
The key goals were attracting talent across all divisions of their business; helping embed and improve recruitment processes and practises; and supporting efforts to enhance their employer brand in the tech and South West community.
Clue were looking for a supplier that could offer a trusted, all-encompassing talent solution.
Listening to their needs, we proposed our Build_up plan. Offering a true long-term partnership, this covered every part of their talent needs, from employer branding and talent attraction through to onboarding and retention.
Our Talent-as-a-Service subscription plan is a fixed investment each month, with no fee per hire; perfect for Clue with their need to hire significantly across the entire business.
The Results
We have hired 50+ people for Clue throughout the course of our talent partnership, including helping them build an internal talent team to take over the majority of their recruitment.
Our partnership supported Clue on the full cycle of their scaling journey, and as well as hiring, we've supported the scoping and defining of new roles, provided regular market data, salary surveys and shared a stage at Bristol Technology Festival.
Partnering with Clue on our Build_up plan, we have supported all their recruitment across Tech, Product, and Commercial.
Talent Partners
With our Co-founder, Henry, overseeing the relationship and taking the lead on managing all talent needs, we have partnered at board level. We’ve backed that up with scaling our delivery team to adapt to varying demand and the needs of hiring managers across Clue.
Clue have valued our candidates, but much more than that. From creating job descriptions, introducing skill tests, mapping out competitors and talent pools, referencing and advising on candidate relevance, we’ve helped improve their hiring capabilities.
Hiring across the business
From Software Developer and Tech Leads to a Head of Marketing and a Product Owner, we’ve been able to hire critical roles across the Clue org chart. They’ve also trusted us with senior roles, where we’ve run campaigns for a Chief Customer Officer and a CTO.
Clue have been able to demonstrate to their investors and board they have a trusted talent partner and recruiter who can scale their team to meet their growth targets and milestones.
Community
On top of the improved employer branding, we have been able to introduce Clue to our network of contacts, where they’ve quickly been able to strengthen their South West tech community links.
Examples include co-hosting a panel event at the Bristol Tech Festival and introducing the executive team into a scaleup peer group, improving their exposure with other South West leaders.
Employer branding
To engage and interest candidates now and build a strong talent pipeline, we’ve supported Clue on their employer brand.
We've helped manage Clue’s LinkedIn page, kicked off their use of Glassdoor, and run co-branded recruitment campaigns. The key has been ensuring a consistent story is told around Clue’s vision and purpose and what it means to be part of their team.
This has led to a fivefold increase in relevant and engaged applicants compared to contingency recruitment processes, a regular increase in followers to Clue’s LinkedIn page, and enhanced metrics around quality of talent acquisition.
