Overwatch Aerospace is a pioneering British UAV business specialising in delivering the next generation of loitering drone support, enabling accurate mission outcomes in the most complex environments.
As a rapidly growing business operating in a niche sector, Overwatch Aerospace sought assistance with their talent acquisition for several key technical hires, to help scale their business.
With client demand increasing at an unprecedented rate and the skills required niche and in high demand, they looked to us to overcome these challenges.
Overwatch Aerospace partnered with ISL via our Build-up solution, our Talent as a Service product.
The solution offered a transparent, fixed monthly price, along with a host of premium service options, including a dedicated Talent Manager to manage the entire recruitment process.
Having listened to Overwatch’s requirements and the challenges associated with hiring the niche skills needed, we put together a comprehensive talent plan, covering everything from market mapping other UAV and Robotics businesses, through to salary benchmarking and a branded advertising campaign.
The Results
To date the partnership has resulted in several successful hires including Mechanical Designers and Systems Engineers, with ongoing support being provided in sourcing other niche skills that Overwatch may need in future.
Market mapping and salary benchmarking
When we began the partnership with Overwatch, we commenced work by doing in-depth market mapping to get to grips with the industry and key competitors. In addition to this, we carried out salary benchmarking to give a clear understanding of competitor compensation packages, track salary trends and ensure that Overwatch were positioned as a competitive employer.
Branded advertising
We used branded approaches to showcase Overwatch’s brand, values, and vision to the passive candidate network, resulting in improved candidate attraction and engagement.
Results show that branded adverts and approaches generates over 75% more responses and engagement compared to anonymised search campaigns. This provides a far bigger talent pool with candidates more engaged from the outset.
Transparency and consistency
To maintain a clear and open line of communication, we established weekly review meetings with Overwatch. These meetings served as an opportunity to provide updates on candidate progress and gain feedback, ensuring a consistent and transparent flow of information between us.
Outside of daily communications surrounding candidate feedback, interview arrangements etc, this allows us and the customer to prioritise work more effectively and deal with issues and challenges in a more timely manner.
Committed partner
One of the significant advantages of our Build-up model is the allocation of a dedicated talent partner. We assigned Emily as the dedicated resource, allowing her to actively immerse herself in the UAV market, gain a deep understanding of Overwatch Aerospace and align their needs with our recruitment strategies.
